Job Summary
The editorial department at Woven Health Collective reaches beyond finding typos and invoking style guides (though we definitely do that, too) to help the agency create marketing materials that best communicate our clients’ distinct visions. Editors are an essential component of every brand team, thinking broadly about audiences, messaging, design, and client goals alongside the painstaking work that is editing digital and print communications for life science brands. The Medical Editor works closely with the entire brand team to ensure that our creative content is accurate, clear, and consistent.
The Medical Editor will support the primary brand editor in handling editorial duties for that account including editing, fact-checking, proofreading, and attending meetings. They will also help set and maintain brand style and keep the creative, account, and project management teams aligned with editorial processes. They must also collaborate with those teams in the creation of timelines, workflows, and job scopes for the brand—recognizing potential inefficiencies and bottlenecks before they happen, advising their team on how best to keep work flowing and timelines manageable, and ensuring that editorial processes are followed. The Medical Editor is also responsible for overseeing freelancers’ work on their specific brand and managing the freelancers’ assigned tasks.
As part of the editorial team, the Medical Editor will also provide backup on other brands as needed—for example, joining in at double-read stages, handling other reads when timing or workloads dictate, and covering workloads for other editors while they are out of the office.
Alongside project managers, editors are the stewards of overall agency process, continually working to refine and evolve it to improve efficiency and quality. The Senior Editor should proactively point out areas of improvement in our editorial processes and workflows in general.
